Search Engine Tips
We design Websites from the start to perform well with search engines
and make your business easier to find online. It is one thing to
have an excellent Website, it is another for your target audience
to find it!
Consider Websites you have visited. How did you find them? Over
80% of Website visitors come from search engines. There are billions
of Websites on the Internet, and thousands are added every day.
Most people use a search engine to find what they are looking for.
For your target audience to find your Website, it is vital that
your site is carefully tailored to rank highly on major search engines.
Most Website designers know how to submit sites to the major search
engines, but few are able to achieve high search engine positions.
With billions Web pages and massive competition in each and every
industry, your Website needs to place high on all major search engines,
and we can achieve that for you. The uniqueness of each business
requires thorough research of your industry, keywords, and the competition.
We will research keyword popularity and make the search engines
work for you.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
The purpose of search engine optimization is to increase
Website traffic by achieving the best search engine placement possible
with the most appropriate keywords, which describe your company's
products and Website. By achieving high placement on search engines,
your Website is exposed to over 85% of Internet users.
Once a search engine finds your new site, it will generally visit
and start to index the pages on the site, as long as all the pages
are linked to with hyperlinks. Spiders may not fond pages that are
accessible only through Flash or Javascript links.
Search engine spiders may look at a number of different factors
when crawling a site, and many pages from a site may not be indexed
by the search engines until they gain more page rank or links or
traffic. Distance of pages from the root directory of a site may
also be a factor in whether or not pages get crawled.
** Caution ** There are many
unethical search engine marketers out there that will take your
money by making false promises. They will tell you exactly what
you want to hear. Except for pay-for-placement advertising, optimizers
cannot guarantee top positions. Credible, experienced, and knowledgeable
search engine optimizers can demonstrate results from past performance
but they cannot guarantee future results.
The following four items will help you
achieve the best possible search engine placement:
Meta Tags
Each page of your Website should contain a Page Title and Meta Tags
for Keywords and Description in the HTML code.
When a visitor performing a Keyword search locates your Website,
your page title will be displayed along with a brief description
of your Website page. Each page should have a compelling description
and an appropriate title to encourage a click through by the visitor.
Duplicate your page description as a comment under the Page Title.
The comment will not be displayed on your Website page. The page
description redundancy will improve your Website ranking by some
Search Engines.
Keywords
Some Search Engines locate your Website based on the Keywords and
phrases listed as Meta Tag for Keywords. The Keywords and phrases
can be tweaked to improve the ranking of your Website for search
engines which use Keywords. We will show you how to do this in our
discussion of Tracking Effectiveness of Keywords by Search Engines.
Title and Description
Other Search Engines locate your Website by indexing text from your
page title, description and page content. These Search Engines send
out spiders or crawlers to gather information about your Website.
Therefore, it is important your description contain a brief summary
of the page contents accompanied by some enticing phrases to encourage
a click through. We can write brief page summaries with appropriate
click through inducements for your Web pages. Contact us for assistance.
Content
Because some Search Engines index words from the text of your Web
pages, it is important that your message on each page has content
which is focused on the subject of the page. Avoid extraneous and
off subject material in your text. We can revise your content to
make it Website appropriate. Contact us for help.
